Hike up a volcano

Hiking up a volcano is not something you get to do often. Mount Agung, Mount Batur, Bratan, and Mount Merbuk are the four volcanoes that adorn Bali. Mount Agung and Mount Batur are famous trekking spots. It may take upto four hours to climb up these volcanoes. The viewpoints offer fantastic panoramic views of Bali. Did I mention that all the volcanoes are active? Cool, right!

Chill by the beach



Bali is a tourist hotspot, and all the main beaches such as Kuta, and Sanur are full of life. You could dine at one of the beach outlets, and strike up a friendly conversation with a fellow tourist.

If you are a lover of solitude, head straight to Uluwatu, Padang Padang or Dreamland. These beaches are calm, pristine and beautiful.

Visit the temples in Bali

Bali is known as the Island of Gods. There are more than 20, 000 temples in Bali. From small shrines to elaborately built structures, Bali has a wide variety of temples. Besakih temple is the largest temple in Bali. It is more than a thousand years old. There are 22 temples inside the Besakih complex. Tanah Lot, Uluwatu, Tirta Empul, and Goa Gajah are the other popular temples in Bali.

Meet the monkeys

The Sacred monkey forest in Ubud is full of monkeys. There are three temples in this forest. There is a ravine, and a stream running through the woods. This is one of the most visited places in Bali. Get a bunch of bananas and head to the forest, but make sure you leave your bags behind. The monkeys are very curious.

Scuba dive

Bali is a land of seas, and there are a plenty of diving spots in Bali. Dive into the crystal blue waters to get a glimpse of shipwrecks, sunken temples, underwater gardens, historic statues, and colorful fishes. You could choose a dive site based on your skill level. The sites range from no currents to strong currents. Don’t forget to give the customary thumbs up while clicking photographs underwater.

Surf in Bali

Bali is a great place for surfing enthusiasts. It is blessed with good weather throughout the year. There are more than 60 surf spots in Bali. On any given day, you will find the Kuta beach filled with surfers. There are a number of schools that teach surfing, at affordable rates. Uluwanta and Nusa Dua are hot surfing spots for experienced surfers.

Shop till you drop

Bali is an interesting place to shop in. From cheap beach wear and fake sunglasses to designer clothes and unique furniture, Bali has it all. No trip to Bali is complete without a bargaining session at the local markets. Kuta is lined with shops that sell dresses, surfwear and shoes.

Visit the Rice Terraces

The popular Tegellang Rice terraces lie a few kilometers away from Ubud. These sprawling lush green rice terraces look stunning. These intricate rice terraces are maintained using a traditional irrigation system. There are a handful of cafes and galleries near this place from where you can view the terraces. Visitors can walk through the terrace trails.

Try Balinese food

Indonesia is occupied by a diverse population, and it reflects on the food. Mie Goreng is a popular dish that has fried noodles accompanied by vegetables, and a serving of either chicken or shrimp. Nasi Goreng is a similar dish, but it is made of rice. These are two very common dishes found in Indonesia. You can also try Pisang Goreng, Goda goda, Fish Sate, and Nasi Campur.

Watch a dance show

A lot of Balinese art forms combine dancing and storytelling, making dance shows very interesting. Legong of Mahabharata, Barong and Kris Dance, Ramayana Ballet and Wayang Kulit are some of the dance shows you can check out in Bali. The islanders have a special love for art and dance.

Check out the Bali Safari park

Go on a jungle safari in the Bali Marine and Safari park. There are more than 60 varieties of animals here. You can also take a guided tour during the night. The Africa Savannah is the best part of the night safari. You will be enclosed in a cage whilst the wild animals roam around your cage.

Take a walk in the sea




Yes! You read it right. Sea walking is not a very common water activity in the rest of the world, but in Bali it surely is. You can wear a seawater helmet and walk on the ocean bed. You will find a variety of marine organisms that you don't get to see while diving. The good news is that you don't have to be a swimmer.

Relax in a luxury villa

Bali is full of luxury resorts and holiday villas. A lot of villas are located in picturesque places. You could consider chilling in an awesome villa, enjoying the sun, sipping on a drink and looking at the scenic oceans.

You could also visit a pearl farm, enjoy a Balinese Gamelan show, watch the sunset from the Uluwatu sea temple, tour a chocolate factory, take a swim in an infinity pool or visit Waterbom which is a famous water park in Bali.
